WHAT WE DO
Operational Safeguards
All community related data collection activities and distributed energy deployments adhere to strict ethical protocols, including Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and local labor standards.
Board members, researchers, and technical staff must disclose financial ties to commercial energy developers or vendors, recusing themselves from decision making responsibilities within IKLIM Hub.
The use of scientific method to analyze projects beginning with testable hypotheses. Proposed interventions are then evaluated using available data and when possible, empirical modeling. This is applied across our work including development of policy papers, roadmap development, bottleneck identification and assessment, and other works.

Distributed Energy Applications
Beyond research and repository curation, IKLIM Hub actively supports pilot project implementation across off-grid, residential, commercial, and industrial settings. We train local operators, establish long-term asset operation and maintenance protocols, and focus on the productive use of energy. Whether deploying rooftop solar, solar water pumping, stand-alone PV systems, ice makers and cold storage, renewable energy mini-grids, or solar water filtration systems, our work ensures that distributed energy directly fuels sustainable economic development in all its applications.
Institutionalizing Knowledge
The global energy transition stalls at the gap between strategic research and practical execution. Millions of dollars are spent generating policy papers that remain unapplied, while field level operational tools, mapping data, and site insights disappear when individual project funding ends.
This continuous loss of institutional memory forces local actors, developers, and governments to repeatedly reinvent foundational frameworks. Without a permanent institution to generate actionable tools, host unified datasets, and train local leaders, proven climate models fail to scale.
